There is a Dorothy Gladys Davis death in 1999 in Surrey - birthdate shown as 19.12.1900 whereas your Dorothy was born end of 1901

Are either of the children still alive?

Was another child born in 1942?

From my reply above

Sorry! got the name wrong.  The reported Dorothy Gladys death - birth date 19 Dec 1900- her birth could have been registered in January 1901!  Did her children/child move to Surrey?

The reported Dorothy Gladys death - birth date 19 Dec 1900- her birth could have been registered in January 1901

This is from freebmd

Births December qtr 1901
Dorothy Gladys Newton   Birmingham  6d 110

The death in 1999 was born a year earlier and could have been any Dorothy Gladys.  Freebmd has loads of Dorothy Gladys births in the December qtr 1900 and  March qtr 1901

She may have divorced and re-married

You can't really rely on the birth dates given on death registrations as these are supplied by the informants and may not be accurate.  While the day and month may be right - because the person's birthday might be known - it wouldn't be uncommon for the date to be a year or more out.

thanks everyone for comments.
Both children are now dead. I can only assume she either died
or they divorced which was not particularly common then and maybe she re-married
it's a real brick wall at the moment.
