Hi Chris

You would have to ask the reg. office about the ones not showing on their index, some may not be completely indexed online, the website should show what coverage there is

If you manage to find out the cemetery and grave numbers for the right children, (and whether there are headstones) from Middlesbrough cemeteries office, we can go and look for them and take a photograph for you    ( bereavementservices [at] middlesbrough.gov.uk )

Hi Barbara
I e-mailed bereavementservices [at] middlesbrough.gov.uk the other day and asked if there was any way of finding out the parents names of the other children on my list and got a great reply:

Good morning Chris
I can certainly have a look in our records, but have to prioritise work, so burial duties come first.
I will have a go later today and see what I can find and feed them through to you as I locate them.    Unfortunately we are not computerised, and we manage 6 cemeteries.
Will get back to you asap.

Kind regards
Carole Davis
Cemetery Supervisor

So I will wait and see what she finds and then ask about grave numbers etc as I would love to have a photo of the graves.
I cannot believe the amount of help I am getting from you guys over in the UK. So a big thank you
                                                                                Chris
Ps If I don't hear in a few days I will ask for the grave number of Arthur Holland

That's good, I've always found the Middlesbrough register office and cemeteries office staff very helpful.

There are a lot of us on Rootschat who go to the local cemeteries to find and take photos of graves, and Linthorpe and Acklam cemeteries are very near where I live, so it's no trouble.

Maybe you'll be able to help someone with some N Z research   :)

Hello June,

Welcome to rootschat  :)

Tees valley indexes has the death for Patrick 1917 Middlesbrough, and one for an Annie in 1936, you could order a copy of the certificates from Middlesbrough register office, contact details on the website:
http://www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk/search.php

I'm not sure when you contacted Acklam cemeteries office, but they should be able to tell you which cemetery and the grave number, they are usually very helpful, contact details given earlier

Kind regards
Barbara

Big thank you Barbara for your quick reply..very kind of you.
It was last year when i phoned Acklum Cemetery..as i only had the surname
of my grand-parents  they was not a lot they could do,  very short & sweet.
I did go into Middlesbrough Index for the birth of my G-Mother,  thats also
another dead end i have come across..1911 census say she was born in
Middlesbrough but thy have no record of her birth..
But thank you again Babs,  you have been most kind,    June.

It might be better to get the death certificates first, asking the register office to check any known details before buying them to be certain they're the right ones.  Then knowing the exact date of death will help the cemeteries office staff to find the burials more quickly.

Just ask if you need any more help with this

Barbara  :)
