Hi Chris,

I see that you asked this same question a year ago, and Helga gave you this reply:

just a thought, if you connect to www.teesvalley-indexes.co.uk you will be able to do a search for the child.
They have a great verification system in place  and are very helpful. If you tell them you are looking for the child of Johnathan and Elizabeth Holland (having given them the names etc of the children you suspect he/she could be) they should be able to help locate your child.
All the best
Helga

Did you get in touch with Middlesbrough register office through the teesvalley website?

Chris,
just to confirm what you have been told by Helga & Barbara...  I have been in touch with the registrars via TeesValley.  I asked them to confirm whether the parents of child xxx [using their reference number] were yyy & zzz.  They were happy to do this & I didn't have to buy any certificates.  They are not (apparently) allowed to divulge any information, so wouldn't TELL you the parents names, but are happy to confirm (or otherwise) the names you supply.

Have you made up a shortlist of possibles, comparing births with deaths, and especially ruling out certain births as they are too close in date  to those you already know about?
(eg) I'd suspect births in 1889/1890, around 1898, and anything after 1901.

Hope this helps

Vicky

Hi Vicky and Barbara
Thank you both for such a quick reply. I have done a search with Free BMD and found eight possibility's
Deaths:
1889 Mary Holland                  Middlesbrough  9d 409
1892 Gertrude Holland            Middlesbrough  9d 395
1899 Arthur Holland                Middlesbrough  9d 350
1901 John William Holland       Middlesbrough  9d 386
1905 Lydia Holland                  Middlesbrough  9d 381
1908 Robert Samuel Holland   Middlesbrough   9d 401
1910 Annie Holland                 Middlesbrough   9d 406
1911 Mary Holland                  Middlesbrough   9d 366
But when I  try and look them up on www.teesvalley-indexes.co.uk I can only find Arthur Holland and Robert Samuel Holland so are unable to have the others checked if they have parents Jonathan and Elizabeth Emily Holland (Claxton)?

Hi Madpants,
They had to be born in Middlesbrough and the dates not clash with the living ones

Hi
I may have made a bit of a break threw. I searched the BIRTHS of the 8 Children on www.teesvalley-indexes.co.uk and found that only Arthur and Robert Samuel Holland had "Contact Middlesbrough" and the others it said "Contact Guisborough?" even though Free BMD said all where born in Middlesbrough. I have asked Teevalley if Arthur or Robert S Holland had parents Jonathan and Elizabeth Emily Holland (Nee Claxton). I know all there children were born in Middlesbrough.Do you think I may be on the right track?

Hi Chris,

On freebmd, Middlesbrough is the registration district, click on it and you will see what areas are covered, or click here: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/middlesbrough.html

Teesvalley indexes cover Middlesbrough, Guisborough, Hartlepool and Stockton districts, so any found with a Middlesbrough reference number are more likely to have been born in Middlesbrough itself.

Hopefully as I said before, Middlesbrough register office will be able to help you further

Hi,
Just got a reply from register AT middlesbrough.gov.uk (Tees Valley Indexes) and Arthur Holland Death 1899 is one of the children but Robert Samuel Holland parents were not Jonathan and Elizabeth Emily Holland. So that is a huge break through for me, but when I search the other names on Tees Valley Indexes  only Lydia Holland  came up, and have just ask about her parents waiting for reply.
1889 Mary Holland
1892 Gertrude Holland
1901 John William Holland
1910 Annie Holland
1911 Mary Holland
come up in Free BMD but not Tees Valley Indexes ?
But I am so great-full for your help so far and one day I may get to come over to the UK and see the grave
