I have a MC from 7th Feb 1872 which gives the following info:
@ The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Kings Lynn
Robert STACEY, 21 years, Bachelor, Labourer, Friars Street, South Lynn (Robert STACEY (deceased), Labourer)
Sarah BORLEY, 20 years, Spinster, Pleasant Row, South Lynn (William BORLEY, Policeman)I have looked for both in the 1871 census but could do with some help/reassurance:
Where is Sarah?A year earlier, at birth of her daughter Sophia, Sarah BORLEY's address is given as Providence St, just the other side of London Road. I have found no trace of her on Providence St. Can anyone find her in Pleasant Row or anywhere in King's Lynn?
Where is Robert?I had found a Robert STACEY in Hillington Sq on the 1871 census and reckoned this was Sarah's spouse. According to the MC Robert's father was Robert and had died pre-1872). While Sarah STACEY is a widow in 1871 , the 1861 census suggests Sarah's husband (Robert's father) was called Richard (sheep labourer?).
Can anyone make any sense of this? Have I mixed up families?
No other
Robert STACEY seems to fit so well as
Richard does!!
I have checked the two Witnesses and they seem to be young friends of the married couple with no obvious links to either family - so no clues there I'm afraid.
