just got my rellies Death Notice , just one stupid question!
what does major and minor mean regarding children?

Until one reached a certain age (used to be 21 in South Africa but currently 18 years of age) you were classified as a minor, meaning you were under guardianship of your parents, not able to vote, not able to enter into contracts without your parents/guardians permission including marriage, etc..

After that you were known as a major.
