There is a death registered in June Quarter of a John McGarrigle in Essex (West Ham) aged 50 (freebmd.org.uk).  Whether this is yours and the informant wasn't sure of his age, or whether this person has just been slotted into the tree for convenience, I don't know.  Buying the cert will cost you £9.25 from General Register Office (gro.gov.uk) and that's the only way to see the details on the cert.

Honan - Manchester and Ireland
Hogg - Manchester 19 cent
Anderson - Newcastle mid 19 cent

West Ham is the site of the Royal Docks which were in their heyday in 1920's and 30's, so at least there is a good reason why your man's death may have occured there.
