Lifton parish registers - James DAVEY around 1821
« on: Friday 08 July 11 03:57 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the origins of James DAVEY who appears on Jersey, Channel Is, in the 1841 census, age 20, and after marrying and having 8 children successively on Jersey, Alderney and Guernsey, finally declares his place of birth at the 1881 census as "Lifton, Devon" rather than just as "England".

Unfortunately, while we have reasonably good registrations for some of the children, we have not yet found the marriage, or the death (probably on Guernsey) of the parents, so have very little to go by other than the place given at the 1881 census.

Any help in finding his birth and thus connecting him with the relevant family in SW England would be much appreciated.

No baptism for a James davey in Lifton between 1813 and 1837.

Very many thanks for checking this - at least this confirms that my unsuccessful attempts at finding it were probably not completely barking up the wrong tree! cheers
