JORDAN Family in Dorset

A good friend of mine wants to know some of her family history for her 60th birthday.
Her name is Amanda Jane Jordan and was born in Bridport. She knows little of her family history but I will give what she does know and hope someone can start filling the gaps.
Her father was Anthony Martin Jordan who was born in Dover in 1922 and moved to Dorset. She thinks her dad was in the 8th Army in North Africa.
Her grandad was Anthony Bramwell Jordan who was born in Ireland - date unknown but died in late 1950s.
The grandads mother was Mary O'Mally possibly from County Cork.
Any help you could give from these few facts will help to give her a great birthday present. She would like to know about family history and any details of her father's or grandad's war record.

Added: I'm not sure now that this is the right family or marriage as there is an Anthony B Jordan in the 1901 aged 3, but he was born in Croydon with mother Martha who was born in Bolton Lancashire. You need to get Anthony Martin's birth certificate which will give you his mother's name.

Have spoken to my friend and she she feels that Anthony Martin's mother's maiden name was Tate. Your prompting brought back a memory, so I think we have the right marriage and 1901 census details. She seems definite that grandad Anthony Bramwell Jordan was born in Ireland.

If she is absolutely certain that Anthony B Jordan was born in Ireland, I don't think that is the right marriage, just a coincidence.

Martha died in Croydon in the December quarter 1922.

So there is no Irish link with this family. I think you do need to get Anthony Martin's birth certificate as that will give his mother's first name. If it does turn out to be Martha then the Irish connection is probably a family story that has got mixed up, if it isn't Martha then you know this is the wrong family.

That 1920 marriage is the only Jordan/Tate marriage that is coming up on Freebmd, but of course if they were Irish they may have married in Ireland before coming to England.
