hi not sure if i had to start my own thread or to just find the appropiate headings.

notices info on the following  man (my father)

gordon john hawes
died 1991
aged 47
pukekohe public cemetry

john baker hawes
died 1989
aged 90
pukekohe public

lily hawes
died 1962
aged 51
waikumete cemetry

i think John and Lily were my fathers (gordon)  parents. am interested in finding out if my father had any siblings etc.

All probates are at Archives in Auckland,

Yes, as Alan said, best remove your email address, this is a policy of Rootschat that we don't have our personal details on here.

It might have been best if you started a new thread, as I think this one has been completed.

I will do the look up of the death notices but you will have to supply me the actual death date it makes it easier to search the paper. 

Unfortunately the Probate can not be looked up at the library, that is at a different place and I won't be able to do it for you.  You will have to start a new thread called say ...".Auckland Archives - Hawes"

Hi KHP - this is all a result of a question raised last night on the Trade Me genealogy board.  The only date of death anyone came up with was this one:

HAWES, LILY
Plot : N/A
Interment Type: Cremation
Title: Mrs
Surname : HAWES
Given Names: LILY
Age : 51
Gender : Female
Occupation: MARRIED
Date Of Death : 31-Dec-1962
Date Of Cremation : N/A
Date Of Burial : N/A
Funeral Director : LAMBERT R FOUNTAIN LIMITED
Head Stone Details : N/A

I personally don't know how to find actual dates of death but in the mean time even if you can get this one for her it would be great.

I had already checked the website for the date.  Actually, it is not worth me going all the way to get one death notice as I live in the country.    If I am up that way then I get them, otherwise I use the NZSG Branch.    I will add this one on, but it is usually a couple of weeks before I get them sent to me.

So can you get the death dates?  Could I ask what you mean "you use the NZSG Branch" - what info can you get there, just the death date?

NZSG = New Zealand Society of Genealogists.   They hold copies of the NZ Herald Death Notices from 1940 onwards.    As mentioned I live in the country and I am not in the position to do look ups straight away like other Rootschatter.  It is easier for me to do this than travel out of town.

I have a few notices of mine still to get, so once I have all 3 of the Hawes, then I will add them to mine, send away for them, and wait a couple of weeks for them to send me the notices

The Pukekohe Cemetery dates - I can trawl through the cemetery but it will be the next time I go into town.
