Moston Cemetery - Fees
« on: Monday 04 July 11 12:30 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone :),

Does anyone know how much St. Josephs charge for looking up burial details.  I went to Moston on Saturday, and the gravestone that I have receipts for "re-opening" on three occasions (1924, 1931, 1960) is no longer there :(!

Thank you.

Whenever I have emailed (3 or 4 times now) St Joseph's to locate graves they have always been very helpful.  I have provided the name and the date of the death and they have been able to respond quickly with a grave number.  There has never been any mention of a charge.

Your enquiry seems more involved though if the gravestone has gone missing  :(.

I would ring or email them and see what sort of response you get.

Thanks Luzzu,

Fortunately, I have the grave no. and the Section.  My Nanna (now deceased), kept the receipts for the re-opening of the grave and the incriptions on the headstone, on the death of her sister (1924), mother (1931) and brother (1960).  I would just like confirmation that her father is buried there as well (I will have to look up when he died ;D ;D).

Surely they can't charge for explaining why a gravestone that was there now isn't.  I wonder if it has been removed because of it had become unsafe but don't they usually just topple them.

Hi Luzzu,

Thanks.  I am sure the stone must have been removed because it was unsafe.  I am just disappointed, because I remember going with my Dad about 20+ years ago to have a look and I don't remember it leaning at all.  Never mind  ::) - onwards and upwards.  I will contact the cemetery as you suggest and see what info they have and whether they have a record as to when it was removed.
