White/Fullerton from Girvan

Hiya,
My late husband's GG grandfather was a John Adams White (b. around 1802) who married an Anople Fullerton (b. around 1806) in Girvan, Ayr (June 1827)...but have hit a wall going any further back from here! (I suspect, too, that said Anople may not have been born Fullerton??!!)
One of their son's emigrated to NZ (Robert b.1831) ..& we have descended from him!
Is anyone able to help me out here, please?

john whyte 48 cotton loom weaver born paisley renfrewshire
annople whyte 46 cotton winder born girvan ayrshire
along with children there is also annople fullerton 89 ma-law widow b. girvan

Thanks for getting back here. Think I may have come across this before...but then had trouble verifying any birth for Anople (Annople) Fullerton through Scotland's People. Have only just come back to this area of our tree, after having let it "sit" for a while!
Will have another dabble in SP tomorrow night...but tonight it's gotten too late, & am off to bed in a mo!

And...yay...I think I'm on a roll after-all!
Suspect the Fullerton was copied down wrongly way back...so all the records in Scotland's People are showing up under Fumerton!! (Having a christian name like Anople didn't help either, as the spelling there varies untold!!)
Yes...we are now Whytes...but when this couple married it was actually White (& was so in the 1841 census...somewhere inbetween that, & the 1851 census, they changed the spelling!)

at this time many people could not read or write , so spelling was fluid and mostly
depended on who was doing the writing(the minister or census taker may also have misheard a name)
it was later on , as better education became available to more people , that spelling became more fixed
so white or whyte is acceptable for this time period

it just makes any research that bit more interesting

Have you tried Fullerton or Fullarton, as my 4th Ggrandmother was Margaret Fullarton Bruce b 1838 In Ayr, I just havent been able to yet put the pieces together as the how the Fullarton name came to be her middle name

Hiya,
That's how I got on to the Fullerton bit too, initially! My late husband's Grandfather had a brother with Fullerton as HIS middle name.
THEIR Grandmother (ie our GG Grandmother!) was an Anople McNider b. 1763 who married a Robert Fullerton (b around 1760) in Glasgow City – 8 August 1790.
Said Anople McNider was actually born in Girvan, Ayrshire...& after their marriage they came back to live there...all their children were born in Girvan too.
As I mentioned earlier though, the records show as Fumerton!!!
I haven't come across a Margaret...but we have descended from their daughter Anople Fullerton (b. 1804) whose siblings were:
1792 Susanna
1793 James
1795 Mary
1802 John
1809 William
Maybe your ancestor shares one of those sisters/brothers as either a parent (or even a grandparent??) I haven't investigated “sideways” yet...but you could maybe try down that track...who knows?!

Hello, I am distantly connected to you through Annople Whyte baptised 12 july 1835 who married David McGill on 31 dec 1858.  David McGill is my 2nd GG Uncle.  I have 6 children for David and Annople.  Reading your posts - I have come across a variety of spellings for white/whyte fullertons/ too.  Its a bit frustrating at times though I am getting savvy at using the different filters and phonetic screens.   I am happy to share what info I have on their children
