Hi.......can anyone help me find out what happened to an elusive member of the family or does anyone know anything about him and his family?
Patrick Sillery born late 1849 early 1850. Place of birth is unconfirmed but other family members were born around Dunroe, Nobber, County Meath. However the family has alot of connections with the U.S. - New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio so perhaps he was not born in Ireland at all? I don't know how to find out anything about U.S. births.
I know that his parents were Charles Sillery and Mary Cahill. I'm told that siblings were Francis, Jane -1843 Ireland, John - 1844 Ireland, Anne, Mary -1847 Ohio, Joseph -1851 Ireland,Charles 1854 New Jersey and James 1855 New York but I have yet to prove all of this. It sure seems like a lot of back and forth at a time when travel would have been expensive and taken a long time.
Patrick Sillery married Mary McVeigh (on her baptism her family name was spelled as McEvee)in 1878 in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. Their children were Mary Anne(1879), John/Jack (1880) and Alice (1882) - all born in Drogheda, County MEATH.
In 1887 Mary, Mary Anne, Jack and Alice are found on the Boston bound passenger lists on a ship called the Roman that departed from Liverpool, England. There is no sign of Patrick on the ship so perhaps he is in the U.S.
In 1901 Mary, Mary Anne, Jack, Alice and now with an additional child - Patrick Jr (born circa 1887 in the U.S. based on census dates) are back in Ireland living with her brother and there is no sign of Patrick Sillery Senior. By 1911 I can't find the family although Mary Anne and Alice were old enough to be married and I know that Alice did stay in the Drogheda area and marry.
Can anyone help discover what happened to Patrick?
Thanks!!!
