Henry McLean
« on: Thursday 30 June 11 19:48 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on my Great Great Grandfather Henry McLean.

He was born in Antrim, family history says Moneyglass, although not certain. around 1838.

He married Hannah Griffin in Aug 1854 in the Parish of Duneane.

He had a son born in Aug 1855 also in Duneane called Willian John McLean.

The 1871 Scottish census record has him in Glasgow, with 4 children all born in Ireland.

Hannah died in Glasgow in 1870.

He then disappears from the Scottish records, and one of his sons marriage cert in 1885 has him as deceased, but can't find death certificate, this is strange in Scotland as very particular.

He may have gone back to Ireland.

Any help would be appreciated.

Irish civil registration index is online (free) and you can search it here- registration of deaths started in 1864:

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
