Location of streets in sheffield

Hello,
I'm hoping a 'Sheffield expert' can fill me in on a few details.
My gg-grandmother lived at "Farm Bank Shrewsbury Rd" at the time of her marriage (1844). Can anyone tell me what part of town that was in and what it was like? Would "Farm Bank" be the name of the house, or would it be part of the name of the road? I believe her father, Thomas Shepherd was a merchant and was quite wealthy.
The mother, Hannah, later (1871) lived at Lowfield Terrace, Ecclesall Bierlow. Again, can anyone tell me exactly where that was and what it was like? Was it part of Sheffield or a nearby village?
I am also trying to figure out which church my gg-grandmother would have been married in in 1844. Her marriage certificate simply says that she was married in the parish church, Sheffield. The minister was Edward Goodwin. Would it have been St Peter and St Paul?
It's hard for us from Downunder to get a grip on where everything is in the UK and how far apart the places are!

You may be interested in this site

 It shows old pictures from sheffield. In some of the photos if you hover over them it tells you who lived in them. But I think thats only if the person who donated the photos knew. A tip with the search is to look at each one. There are quite a lot!! If you have the time its really interesting and maybe it will give you an idea of what it was like. Maybe you may see the streets or houses you are searching for.

I happened on this site if you are interested www.gencem.org/burialrecords/records.php on page 51 there is a William John Shepherd age 13 Parents Thomas and Hannah Shepherd Farm bank Shrewsbury Rd Sheffield died 1842  would  he have been your G G Grandmothers Brother. Don't know if you already have this info. Gives the number of the grave. Ive only got up to page 80 up to now but is interesting.

Hi treesearcher Found your ancesters vault. Very overgrown with brambles but managed to clear a bit 5 people buried there. Insciption still readable in places. I will go back with tools and get a better picture but heres one to be getting on with. Hope it works this time. Enjoy!

It worked i'm so glad now the names are William son of Thomas/Hannah. Thomas himself. Ellen wife of William Neepe of southwell Notts who is also the daughter of Thomas/Hannah Hannah herself and Lydia daughter of ? ( heres where the brambles got the better of me. Will send insciption in full when i've cleared the site.

'The Parish Church, Sheffield' will indeed mean the Church of St Peter & St Paul, which is now the Cathedral (it became a Cathedral in 1914).

Edward Goodwin succeeded his father (who may also have been an Edward) as assistant minister at this Church in 1817. he died in 1847. I have several references to him on file as officiating at weddings in the Parish Church.

In 1844 Sheffield was still one big parish but was on the verge of being split up into more manageable ecclesiastical districts.
