Wednesday, 17 August – Family History at Auckland War Museum - flesh on the genealogical bones with Bruce Ralston. Family history is about giving perspective to the lives of families and their individual members. Hear Museum Library Manager Bruce Ralston talk about a major source for filling in the gaps with primary sources, pictures, maps and historical publications.
Wednesday, 24 August – Hidden Treasures in FamilySearch with Judy Jones Dig for hidden treasure as we go deep beneath the surface and find the jewels and golden opportunities missed by many. We will discuss the birth and life of maps.familysearch.org, taste a bit of Familytech, community trees, digital books and more. Come learn as we unearth these hidden treasures with Judy A. Jones, AG®, CGSM Senior British Research Consultant, visiting from FamilySearch in Salt Lake City, who will update us on the latest with the FamilySearch databases including the historical records, Wiki and forums, with a particular emphasis on how to get the most out of maps.familysearch.org.
Tuesday, 30 August, 1pm-2pm – Breaking down those British BrickWalls with Mark BayleyVisiting from the UK, Mark Bayley is a popular speaker frequently giving talks to British genealogical societies on records essential for family historians that are outside of simple BMDs and Census. His talk features a new way to research your family history.

Introduction to Australian Land SourcesVisiting professional genealogist Carole Riley, is on the council of the Society of Australian Genealogists and publisher of the book “Social Media for Family Historians”. With a background in IT, Carole has an avid interest in using the web to further genealogy research, and is a prolific blogger. She has particular interests in NSW and Fiji.
Come and hear about Carole Riley's research into Australian land records:- titles and deeds, maps and plans, conditional purchases and Crown leases, gazettes and directories, probate and deceased estates etc.

Whakapapa is a taonga tuku iho - the gift of the continuum of life. It is about people, a link to tūpuna, Atua, heritage and identity. Traditionally whakapapa is based on a strong oral tradition, while modern whakapapa incorporates the documentary history of an individual.
