Hi Zelda,

It would be best if you removed your email address from your post.

The inscription for the Muir, Hastie & Cleghorn stone is difficult to read. It seems to be -

"Erected by James Muir to the memory of his wife Ann Hastie who died 9th July 1854 aged 57 years. Likewise Agnes Muir their daughter who died 7th July 18(3 or 5)4 aged 19 years. Also James Cleghorn their grandson who died 26th January 1848 aged 5 years. And Agnes Watson their granddaughter who died 30th August 1854 aged 11 months. Christina S Muir died 23rd October 1865 aged 18 months. Peter H Muir .......... aged 28 years". (rest of stone is buried).

Hi Zelda, this is the adjoining plot, so most probably the same family. This stone is very badly eroded unfortunately.
The inscription was - "James Muir died 14th October 1879 aged 84 years. His son Daniel died at Shawlands, Glasgow 28th September 1903 aged 66 years, husband of Mary Douglas. Their daughter Mary Douglas died 20th April 1908 aged 42 years".

Hi Zelda, this is what's left of the Smith and Wylie obelisk.

"Erected by Marion Wylie in memory of her husband Thomas Smith who died 16th December 1856 aged 56 years. And their two infant children. Marion Wylie died 20th March 1895 aged 85 years. Their son William died 17th August 1863 aged 27 years. Their daughter Marion died 31st January 1876 aged 22 years".

If the rain stops I will go to the churchyard and try to take some better pictures. Please let me know if these are the families you are looking for, I many be able to find some burial records for them.

Thank you for the headstone photos etc but I would say they all fit into my families but I will have to connect them somehow to my direct ancestors with the Surname Wylie, Muir, Smith , Cleghorn .
Thank you for taking the time to get photos etc.

I am interested in the Thomson and Stark headstone pics.
Also, any other information you would have on these families.
I am trying to connect John Thomson to family in Lanarkshire.

Hi Kathleen, the picture is of the family of Robert Thomson who died 1913 aged 81 years and his wife Annie Stark who died 1868 aged 36 years. Is this the family you're looking for?
