hi me and my brother were in Barrholm mid 1970s , dont remember much about it but do remember going fishing down the pier , ive blanked a lot about my past , but as i get older im curious , i was in Argyle house ,Athol house and Chapel house , left chapel house when old enough to leave and we all joined up in Greebnock

Myself & my brother were there at that time. We went in when reopened after fire.

Barrholm was built by the Clark Family, Mill owners from Paisley. Children from the poor house were sent here for holidays. There is information on it in the archives at the Mill Heritage, Paisley.  I found that my Gran's sister went here then was fostered in Elgin. It was fir school age children. There was a fire 1975 when it was closed for repair reopening the following March where myself & brother were the first residents. We were there until it closed.
