Hi all,


My great Uncle fled to south Africa around the 1930's I believe, how would and where could I search for him?

Hi Lesley I looked for Leonard on the NAAIRS database for South Africa (SA), no luck. I then tried the ancestorsonboard website which lists passengers from the UK travelling to SA and this is what I found.

Thanks for your help. my mum told me that he just upped and left without any words spoken, I think he went because his Mother had run off to Canada with another man.

There is just 1 Rumsey family in South Africa's whitepages and have thought about contacting them. I will take a look at Ancestry.

Hi Lesley I looked up Rumsey on National Archives of South Africa (NASA)
Database: All Archives Repositories and National Registers of non-public records.Use the RSA archive.Your query, (rumsey) was located in 135 documents and has been saved as query number 2 .

Have a look at these documents one of them may be the missing clue.

Google NASA but spell it out otherwise you get NASA space.Select all arcives ie click on RSA then type in Rumsey enter.

Good luck, there is a post on the main board about using this database if you get stuck.
