You presumably have the info on Michael from the CWGC site:

http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2742860

If his records survive, and some 60% went up in flames in the 1940 Blitz, then they will be available either from Ancestry [pay site] or from the National Archives - which you will need to visit. If you are lucky and they have survived then they might contain details of his family, but that would be rare in my experience. You could download his Medal Index cared from the NA :-

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=3597955&queryType=1&resultcount=1

As for the other brothers - there are 44 men named Dunne with the initial J who died between 1916 and 1918:

http://www.cwgc.org/search/SearchResults.aspx?surname=Dunne&initials=J&war=1&yearfrom=1916&yearto=1918&force=Army&nationality=6&send.x=52&send.y=16

The site returned NO hits for any B Dunne serving with the army - which would seem to suggest that it was John who was killed, but that would need further research.

Hope that helps you get started,

Swarbrick - all and any - specially interested in all who served in WW1

Folks,

this is an interesting one - CWGC record Michael's details as previously stated. He was 29 years old when he died at the Somme. His service number is recorded as 7828 and his regiment as the 'skins'. An enlistment date for this number is about 1904. 7828 also belongs to a Michael Dunne who is recorded as a member of the Munsters and a Sgt, also enlisted about 1904.. I don't have access to the A'y docs. Would be nice to get some more info etc from them..Something's a bit mixed up here?
