Where would be the best place to look

Hi

I am new here I have started to look into  the "McGroarty" family from Port Glasgow which is not a common name there I have concluded well looking at bmd certificates that they come from Ireland can someone tell me the best place to look for records there.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

"Scotlands people is showing" 40 births, 12 marriages and 21 deaths for the surname "McGroarty" between the years of 1855 and 2009 in "Port Glasgow".  There are many more scattered around the rest of Scotland for the same time period.

I think purelogic already has Scottish information but is looking for details of the family in Ireland- once we have an idea of dates we can suggest where to look for records in Ireland.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
