You really have gone into this!!! I am so pleased you have shared this information - it gives me encouragement to keep going. I get a bit disappointed at times when I hit a brick wall. When I find out anything that might help I will be in touch - meantime thank you.  Irene

There are quite a few Moodies still living in the Greenock area. A really big family of Moodies some of whom went to school with me. No idea what their origins were going back generations but a lot of Greenock families have Irish roots. Greenock, I think I'm right in saying, had the highest number of Irish immigrants at the turn of 19th/20th century. My own family roots have a strong Irish connection.

hi i don't know if this will help but on finding one of my moodie the spelling had changed to moody?

mine traveled bait ending in london so if it helps ill list them for you all moo dies act the last to spelt with a y instead of i.e.

robert my gt grandfather bathgate scotland  1865 died london

his father  james 1839 denny stirlingshire

his father robert 1811 inverkeithing fife

his father john 1789 sconie fife

his father robert 1760 sconie fife

his father robert 1740 dumfermline fife died walls shetland

his father robert moodie dumfermline fife 1713
and his mother
henrietta moodie orkney

have more info if needed but not much more some of there wires came from renfrewshire but please keep us posted on your finds best of luck
