Sculcoates 1685 - John Drewry
« on: Thursday 23 June 11 16:07 BST (UK) »
I do hope Sculcoates belongs in East Riding!
Hi everyone.
I have from IGI

John Drewry
Marriage: 02 Jun 1685, Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England
Spouse: Mary Lawis

How many churches were there in Sculcoates at the time? Where would they have married? and would a Register be available?
If this 'John and Mary' are the 'John and Mary' at the next level of my tree, then they moved to Lincoln and had their children there.
It could be that John came from elsewhere - his trade was 'carryer' and that it is Mary who comes from Sculcoates. I believe that was the tradition - to marry in the Bride's home town/village.

Sculcoates is in East yorkshire, I believe there would only have been really one parish church at that time (St Mary's).

The parish records are in the East Yorkshire Record Office at Beverley and date back to 1538.
