John Collins in Salford
He couldn't write his name when he married, so either he tried this himself, or dictated it to whoever filled in the form. The handwriting on the rest of the form is reasonably regular, a bit like the "Irelan".
At the time it has been read as Kilrea, the code is for Londonderry.
It is strange, because I heard from one grandson and two gt grandsons, who never have been in contact with each other, that John came from Co Cork. One thought from around Boherhue (sp?), another one from Cobh.
So, if it was Co Cork, is there any place that might sound the way this was written?
