Marriage Record - Townsend/Ritchie

Hi All,

I am seeking a detailed record of the marriage of Albert Townsend and Elizabeth Marie Townsend 03NOV1902 in Port Elizabeth South Africa, possibly in C of E church. Would someone be able to advise me who I should approach to request a certificate or similar.  This couple were my grandparents and moved to Australia where I am located. I am hoping to establish birth and parent details of Elizabeth Marie Ritchie from the marriage record.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  - John

Hi
The Anglican Church records are held at the University of Witwatersrand. They have been filmed by LDS but I have not found them on the LDS catlogue. There are some church records on the catlogue for other demoninations.

Hi John,
I went to Wits University to look for a 1890 wedding in Barkly East (near PE) and all I found were the minutes of the church meetings, no BMD records. I have been looking for 2 years and found nothing.
Cory Library, Grahamstown University has some records but I have not been able to visit them yet.
Sorry but it is all bad news.

I really appreciate the information and efforts.  Even though there is no definite family information I feel I have progressed in my search as I now know a little more (like University existences & LDS records may exist).
