Hi folks,
I'm at something of a loss to track down my 3g-GF, Francis Crawford. It's been suggested that the best resource may be the Poor Law Records held in the Mitchell Library. Unfortunately I live in London, and I wondered if anyone who is visiting might be able to do a lookup for me?
All the information I have is below. Many thanks in advance for any help!

I have SCA birth for his first son John (1845) and second Francis (1847). Although I can find no other trace of John I have full details of Francis Jnr, who was born in Auchinairn.
F Snr married Alice/Elienor/Alison Connelly, likely before 1845 as John is listed as legitimate. Can't find a marriage certificate. I have good evidence for Alice as she survive through the 1851 census, died in 1857, and is buried in Dalbeth RC Cemetery. Alice was born in Ireland and I have good details about her parents (Edward Connelly/Mary Clarke) and later life; she is recorded as being widowed in the 1851 census. Parts of the family lived in and around Auchinairn for some time.
Francis senior was alive in 1847 and dead by 1851. There's no obvious match in the 1841 census, no birth certificate (OPR or SCA) that I can find, no marriage certificate and no death certificate (again, OPR or SCA). I don't even know which country he was born in.
IGI lists a number of Francis Crawfords born between about 1810 and 1830 in Scotland, England and Ireland; I've managed to rule a few of them out.
I'm hoping that Alice may have applied for poor relief as she would have had at least one young child and had lost her husband.
