My Grandfather was born in Guernsey, 1897 (Lu Huriaux) is stated on his military docs.  Family lived in London, so I assume they were visiting. Called Gaffe?(Greff) anyway sorry for confusion, but it was archives in Guernsey and they sent letter stating there is no record of his birth. Any idea where else it may be? Theres a birth for him on family search

There was a 7 year old brother William on 1901 also born Guernsey so they must have been living there for at least 4 years.

Sims, William H  Head  M  40  Labourer  b New Town, Hampshire
Sims, Ann  Wife  F  39  b Berkshire
Sims, William  Son  M  7  b Guernsey
Sims, Fred  Son  M  3  b Guernsey
Sims, Harry  Son  M  5 months  b Wandsworth.

There was another at least one other Sims family living on Guernsey in 1901!
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

His brother "William" had the middle name "george"

Have you tried searching for his birth cert??
