Henry Boyd - Coastguard
« on: Wednesday 22 June 11 08:31 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I am looking for any information on Henry Boyd born about 1791 in Ireland , who was a coastguard.  There is a headstone for him in Old Cemetery, Kilkeel which states that he was a coastguard of Newcastle and he died on 20 Feb 1847. His wife martha is also buried there.
I would be very interested in any information on this family, particularly the names of any children or anything to do with his life as a coastguard.

Ramsdenhouse :)

  Adm175/17  - Page 232 (of 495)
Station : Mannin Bay / Port : Galway
  Station removed from : Killeries
  Date of Transfer : 31 Jan 1834

  Adm175/17  - Page 236 (of 495)

The station at Killeries Bay was located just up the coast from his previous posting at Mannin Bay.

  Name : Henry Boyd
  Rank : Boatman
  Residence : R.E. Scattery Bo...[?]

Hi Freckles,
Did you find any information on Henry Boyd Coastguard of Newcastle? I think he was a brother or a son of David Boyd the Linen Merchant of Kilkeel and Magheramurphy. They both have identical Headstones in the Old Kilkeel churchyard beside each other. In the Freeholders list for Barony of Mourne David Boyd lists three names in October 1819, David Boyd, Henry Boyd and John Boyd.

His headstone lists Martha as his wife who died in May 1845.

David Boyd the Linen Merchant is my G-G-G Grandfather. If you have more information on your family I would love to hear from you.
