Hi Kate..

further to my Spode reference I have just seen this...

http://www.projectsmartart.org/encyclopedia-of-ceramics/pages/cq3xrkngi7/greatbach-daniel-pattern.html

may be a connection although there seems to be another daniel , an engraver who went to America....

do a search for 'Daniel Greatbatch  Earthenware Engraver' and quite a lot comes up!

I would imagine Mary would have been the wife of Daniel junior (if it is your Daniel) if she was the wife of Daniel senior whom married in 1798 she would have been near 120 yrs when she died in 1898

Hi

I have found a will for a Daniel Greatbatch 31 Aug 1866 Effects under £4.000

The will with two codicils of Daniel Greatbatch formerly of Blandford Forum in the county of Dorset Upholsterer but late of Penkhull in the County of Stafford Gentleman who died on the 21 June 1866 aforesaid was proven at the Principal Registry by oath of Mary Anna Greatbatch of Penkhull aforesaid widow the relict of one of the Executors.

It would be well worth sending for this. they have so much information in them and I think they are about £6, I will try and post the link later. there are also a lot more wills on A****y for Greatbatch in the Stafford area but I not sure how they fit in with the family

Hello Bill and Margp,

Billl what a wealth of information you have given me in regard to Daniel, the churches and the street names. I am so delighted and have much to pursue. And Bill thank you for your kind offer to 'run' up Penkhull New Road to view the remaining houses  - a slow pace will be fine by me -I would hate to think you did yourself a disfavour!

And Margp thank you for the information on the the Will for Daniel in 1866 - I will certainly follow that lead.

I am always amazed at how generous people are in giving of there time and effort. It is really wonderful. The information is so interesting it really starts to bring the people of interest to being more than just a name. I would love to think that my Daniel had something to do with Spode  - one never knows!

Also Bill thanks for all the web sites - I look forward to researching them tomorrow as now it is after 1am here in Australia.

Regards
Kate
