Town Hall Clontarf
« on: Monday 20 June 11 18:01 BST (UK) »
While researching my late father, a number of documents show his address as c/o Town Hall in Clontarf. This would have been in the early 1920s when he was involved in the War of Independence. I haven't been able to track down if he - or anyone else - actually lived there or if it was used as a meeting area where post could be collected.

Would anybody know what the Town Hall would have been used for at that time? Have been in touch with the Hall but they don't seem to have records going back that far.

Many thanks

I live not far from Clontarf, and I never knew it had a Town Hall!
truly, Rootschat teaches me something new regularly!

It seems that the original St Anthony's Church was the Town Hall for a short while

Hi,

the place you are looking for is the present day St.Anthony Church,Clontarf
it was converted to  into a church post civil war, they  changed the facade.
to make it look like a church -

I should be able to dig out some photo of it :

Cheers
