I think of mine as sounding like sssinia   as in xylophone

Its source is xenos, a Greek name meaning "Guest, stranger."

and when I first joined - thats what I was, but now I feel part of the family of Roots - maybe I should change it to Exinia.... :D ;) ::)

xinia

Mine's the middle name of my 3xg grandad.  I've never been able to find out where the name came from and it's always puzzled me.  I'm assuming that because (I think) he was illegitimate, that it could be the surname of his father, but I've not been able to prove this or even find any clue that this is the case, it's just speculation.

I don't know why I kept it all in lower case - just a whim - but now I wish I'd given it a capital W, so I often do when I'm signing off.

Mine is because that's what I am; a Rance gal and proud of it. 'Rance' is the local dialect way of pronouncing 'Raunds'

My first name is actually Jolynn; the 2 is because someone else appeared to have the name as well.  I use my first name because, after years of hating it, I have decided that it's a nice name.

Also because I have no imagination and can't think of anything cute or catchy..... ::)
