Baptism records Bristol and Abbots Leigh
« on: Sunday 19 June 11 03:14 BST (UK) »
I have several remembers of my Derrett family who, according to England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975, were baptised (1849-1859) St. Philip and St. Jacob's, Bristol, Gloucester but according to the England, Bristol Parish Registers they were all baptised at Abbots Leigh (Holy Trinity), Somersetshire. Can someone explain what this means please?
Thanks

I think that perhaps the births were registered in Bristol, but the baptisms happened at Abbotts Leigh (which is in North Somerset)?

FreeBMD gives any Derrett births, in that time frame, as in the registration district of Clifton.
Clifton RD included Pip 'n Jay (Ss Philip & Jacob)
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

On LDS site there are some entries for Abbotts Leigh which are wrong, they actually took place elsewhere.  I know of 2 incorrect entries from my own research.  Also there was an article about this in my FHS magazine.
