barkingside cemetery
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 21:55 BST (UK) »

I am trying to find details of my aunts grave. She was a nurse in or near Ilford. She was killed in a motor scooter accident in 1955 9th January. She had just finished her shift as a district nurse and was on her way home. Other details are very sketchy, but I know there was an inquest and a very big funeral.

Her name was Hilda Farrow. she was 46 years old when she died. She was from Yorkshire.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

There's a Barkingside cemetery in Ilford, Essex which might be the one you are looking for if your aunt was nursing near Ilford.

Written requests only for grave details;  which must include name of deceased, month and year of burial.

Barkingside Cemetery, Longwood Gardens, Barkingside, Ilford, Essex  IG5 0ET

Can't find a Barkingside cemetery in Surrey.   :-\

Hi

Barkingside is in Essex now Greater London is in the London borough of Redbridge. Her death was registered in Romford registration district which would cross other London boroughs.

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/romford.html

There is a guide to burials on the two main Essex Rootschat boards which lists all cemeteries in the Greater London area (former Essex London boroughs of - Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest) their dates of opening and gives links to the cemetery offices on the London borough websites.

Redbridge council's cemeteries are now managed by the Westerleigh Group
