help needed for burial location
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 14:02 BST (UK) »
William and Ellen Long ( nee) Keeffe) in the 1901 and 1911. It says he was born in Castletown and she was born in Templeglatine. She died about 20 yrs before him....so I was told......He died about 1940s. Family has not been able to find her burial....Could she have been buried in Templeglatine where she was born? They are both R.C.  If the cemetery is not too big, do I dare ask if someone has a digital camera could a photo be taken of her gravestone............
ANY HELP would be much appreciated...........
many thanks .... I sit pateintly waiting for any replies...............

I sent away for a death certificate from Gro and hope that the informant may have been Ellen's husband which would of course help with additional information for me. I am not sure what to do from here onwards....How to find the site of burial? I read on the site that many have written to churches and sent money and never rec'd replies.......Any suggestions would be appreciated     MALLA

Once you have a confirmed date then the best bet is probably to check the local paper for a death notice. If there is one, it often mention the name of the church and cemetery.

If you can find that out then the you can search to see if any records are available for the burials, and who might have them.

Well I was so excited and hopeful when I received mail from Ireland today...
I sent for 2 certificates....Marriage for Ellen Keeffe around 1894 and her death as Ellen Long early 1920's  unfortunately neither of these was a match..........

Is this the marriage cert you tried ?

  Name:   William Long
  Registration district:   Newcastle
  Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Jan - Mar 1895
  Volume :   5 / Page: 423

  Name: Ellen O'Keeffe
  [same references as William]

1911 census return for reference : Long household, Killaculleen townland
1901 return : Long household

If Ellen died during the 1920s in the same area as the family lived in 1911, then I would have thought this was the closest match for her death on the BMD Index :

  Name: Ellen Long
  Registration district:   Newcastle
  Event type: Death
Quarter and year:   Apr - Jun 1926
Age : 55       (est year of birth 1871)
  Volume :   5 / Page: 301
