« on: Friday 17 June 11 17:58 BST (UK) »
Smith PARISH was born in Trimley in either 1791 or 1793 (not sure about 1792!)

Father may have been Stephen and mother Elizabeth.

Grateful for look up in parish register please

Hi

There is a submitted entry on the IGI showing a christening on 2.4.1797 at Trimley St Martin

Have you seen it?

Hadn't seen it - thank you. Still puzzled as have death certificate which if the age given is right leads to 1791 as birth though 1797 is otherwise plausible

The entry is a christening - not a birth entry so it's difficult to say when he was born.

There are 2 1841 entries - one for a Smith Parish b 1796 and living in Felixstowe and the other married to Ann and living in Caldecot Cambridge

If the death cert you have is 1848 Woodbridge Suffolk - it appears to be the other Smith Parish b 1796

In 1841 he is shown as not born in county (ie) Suffolk) and was 45 - occ Navy.  However - ages were rounded down to the nearest 5yrs in 1841 so he could have been between 45-49yrs old

So you are not looking for a birth in Suffolk as all his children are also shown as not b Suffolk

Just to say, Felixstowe, Trimley St Mary, Walton, Landguard Fort all together on a piece of land that juts out at the mouth of the river Orwell.  So no distance from each other at all.  Trimley St Martin close by.

You might be interested to see the web site for the Fort
