Hello Bill,

Looking at the 1881 census, Rose Hedges was a housekeeper at the home of William Scholing - they also appear together in the 1891 census at Barking, but no sign of Britannia.

Can't find a marriage though ....

You may have to send for Britannia's birth certificate - her birth registration is on Free BMD, December quarter, West Ham, ref 4a 105 (which you probably already know!)

Hi again Bill,

You're not kidding, it's tricky!  I haven't been able to find Britannia on any census at all, and now I can't even find her under her married name, in 1901 or 1911!!

I wonder if she was known by another christian name?

Hi all,

I saw that .... eventually.  Says she was born Canning Town.

Hopefully if you send for her birth certificate Bill, all will become clear.  Or not!

Please let us know, if you do,
Good luck,
