Thanks majm for the pm.
This looks like the family of John James Snodgrass, from what we can see there has been no residencey in WA.
The items that have been found were here in an abandoned home about to be demolished.I may try and track through telephone directories in NSW and see if there are any living descendants of this man so I can forward the info. onto his family.
Thankyou to all who have helped with this query.
Cheers,

buzzby ;)

One of the items found had the name of j.j snodgrass written on it,  As 1 item is military related the historians at the museum believe it to be his,

The confusing part is ,Could there be more than 1 J.J snodgrass ? And if the J.J Snodgrass from NSW died in 1971, How did his items end up in a demolished home in the late 1970's in WA?

If they were his maybe they were given to a family member here prior to or even inherited from him once he passed.

Its sad that a little bit of history could of been lost if these items ended up in land fill luckily there now on display at the museum.
The mystery continues......

Hi there,

Do you know if the museum considered the following WWII chap ....

SNODGRASS William James, Number - 45804 : D o b 25 Sep 1913 : born LEEDERVILLE WA : enlisted Perth WA, n o k James Snodgrass...
(there's around 137 entries for SNODGRASS on the National Archives of Australia's online index)

.......  Contact http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx  Search as a guest

Leanne  OOPS, Cando has posted links that could be for William James ....

Hi Buzzby,

Were the items found WW1 vintage especially the one with J J Snodgrass on it.

It was common during WW1 for soldiers to be given items with their names engraved on them.

Regards
Gerry

I dont not know if the museum considered the items to belong to anyone else. They did their research and noted that J.J snodgrass born Wagga Wagga as the owner.

1 item's vintage was classed as 1939-45,  the other c.1915.

Some books were also found in the house , dated early 1900s with the name Mackey written on them, these books were medical related.
