SNODGRASS Family
« on: Wednesday 15 June 11 06:41 BST (UK) »
Hi All,
Is anyone researching there family tree Snodgrass?
In particular John James born 4 Dec 1892, Wagga Wagga NSW.
He was enlisted in the WW2 nominal roll.
I would like to find out if he lived in WA in the late 1970s.
Thanks ,
Buzzby :)

Hi Buzzby,

If John James' parents were George McGregor SNODGRASS and Frances Grace then he appears to have died in Dubbo, NSW in 1971.

Im unsure of his parents names I have his birthdate and info. on his enlistment of WW2, I do not know where he died.I have tried to find him listed on the WA electoral roll to no avail.
I have actually come across some personal belongings of this person which I have donated to the local museum.
I have been trying to locate any further info on this person and how the items ended up in WA when it looks as though he has spent his life in NSW.
Cheers,
buzzby :)

Hello Buzzby,

I'm not sure if this is any use to you but I came across it whilst looking up a Cannon Snodgrass of Geelong.

Hi there,

I think you will find that he also served in WWI

From the National Archives of Australia's online Index I can see where the WWI records have been included in his WWII records: (The WWI records have the following digitised notice:  “Note – This record consists of an empty envelope only.  The contents have been amalgamated with this person’s later service documents.  Contact Archives Staff for assistance in requesting the amalgamated record”.)

WWI   SNODGRASS John James : Service Number - 3132 (and) N279895

WWII   SNODGRASS JOHN JAMES N279895 Born 04 Dec 1892, Wagga Enlisted Paddington NSW,N o K Edith Snodgrass.

Cando has the marriage that supports the WWII entry.
