Howdon...Tyne & Wear
« on: Tuesday 14 June 11 17:29 BST (UK) »
Hello All!

I am doing this research on behalf of a friend, so any help I could pass on would be much appreciated.

Firstly, the death is in 1988;    district Newcastle Upon Tyne   county;   Tyne & Wear
The last known address for this person was in Howdon.

My questions are; could anyone tell me which local registry office a death cert could be obtained from?
and if anyone could tell me the addresses of the local cemetaries in the area so that there could be inquiries made as to where the grave might be?

I would be so pleased if I could give my friend these answers to help with their quest

Thanks in advance

Hi

Copies of the death cert can be ordered online from the GRO

www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Do you already have the GRO reference number for this death?  If not - if you would post details of the deceased - we can look it up for you

What do you mean by " district Newcastle Upon Tyne" ? Although the last address may be Howdon, that may not be where they died, and the death will be registered in the district in which it took place. If they died in a Newcastle hospital then the death will be registered in Newcastle.

If you could give us a name....who you are looking for?

I know that my local library has an index of names from the Evening Chronicle from the '70's to about 2000.  If it helps, I could take a look, but I would need to know the name:)
