Hi Mick

Going by your info  it look like the 1871 census is the right Family.
Charles lied about his age on the marriage if the library told me correct ?

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

HI Mick

I phoned Barnsley Library and they said as follows

Marriage 4 Feb 1867
St Mary Barnsley
Charles Firth- aged 25- Bachelor - Residence Barnsley town centre-Father John - (Deceased)
 by Banns
They will send you a copy for full info- re;- their website conditions

The WYA data will be launched on Ancestry at the end of June.
Barnsley registers are also with the West Yorkshire data. I wonder if Barnsley will still maintain their stance re the photocopying of marriages after 1837 when the data will be available on Ancestry anyway.

Morning Tuppie, the other side of the coin with all the staff cost cutting that is going on, and the money coming through the library for copies etc is reduced because of Ancestries actions, access to these place will be much reduced, I lost a good access point in Guildford  for surrey research and have to go to woking now I might as well go to kew its not far on and better parking for a start....mike

I had not realised Barnsley was on WYAS registers! being South Yorkshire! Therefore Huddersfield library will have Barnsley St Mary and they don't work under WYAS rules. Will send copy of the event for pee nuts cost.
