barnsley marriage
« on: Tuesday 14 June 11 13:41 BST (UK) »
 I have a marriage between a....

Alice Hanks  bp 9.7.1848 (igi)  Campsall yorks,  father,  Richard Hanks, Fenwick Yorks

Charles Firth,    age unknown or where ....they were married on the 4 . 2 . 1867..at
              St Marys church Barnsley (igi).
I know alices family but not charles, I know nothing and am after his father
that would be on the marriage record, I know that the info is from the igi and needs to be checked, but have found
the igi to be fairly accurate, so am hoping that the dates are true, if the bp date for Alice is correct she was about 19
          when married.....mick

No , sorry Lizdb, i tried the 71 and 81  but to no avail, because I did not know charles origin that did not help, and the lack of age /parent,
I have know way of knowing if this was his 1st or 2nd marriage, and as barnsley was a melting pot at the time, so he could have come from anywere...mick

But you know Alice's - and they were married before 1871.

Having said that, I cant see them in 1871!

Is this her in 1881 ? RG11 4600 157 83, married but no husband there.

What children are they supposed to have had?

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi Mick

Ok! You have  the marriage date 4th Feb 1868 at St Mary church Barnsley.

Barnsley Library should be able to send a copy of the marriage register entry for about £2 P&P with SAE or less (See their web page) it will be exactly the same as the certificate.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
