Looking through the list of requests above, many are well pre-1837.
So the records, if they have survived, will be Parish records.

There are only limited parish records online. If what you are wanting is somewhere obvious, then hopefully someone with your experience will have found them. The fact you are asking for help presumably means they are not obvious. And more likely or not, not online at all.
So you are reliant on someone either having purchased a CD of the relevant parish, or making a trip to the relevant Record office for you.

Basically - a lot of research for that period is still best done by "traipsing around the country ...." to visit the relevant record offices and plough through the appropiate parish, and then neighbouring parishes, often for hours, till you find the entry you are wanting.

lizdb - I have only made one lookup request, for a record which I identified.  My comment about traipsing around the country was intended to indicate that any expertise I have was gained on the road rather than on the internet.  I would be more than happy to carry out my research on foot but living in Bulgaria makes it a bit awkward when all my researches are in England and Wales.  I'm quite content for no-one to answer my single look-up request, I was just trying to find out what I should do if nobody does.

The answer I was given a long time ago was
*No bumping your post up unless you have additional information to add
*No re-posting
*If you post a different query that is related somehow - include a link to the previous post to avoid any duplication of searching

So, once the post is made it's a case of patiently sitting on your hands with your fingers crossed (unless you discover anything new to add to it, in the hopes that it might help someone else help you).
