any idea where this place is

ON one of the 1911 census it has this down as a place in Monaghan it looks like LE CLAISA but I've seached the place names and can't find anywhere that matches

Could it be Le Clastra?

it's trying to work out what someone with a irish accent wouuld sound like to a north east geordie then the newcastle chap writing down what he thinks it sounded like

I agree with Heywood, next you need to cross reference the name with the townland which we don't know.

Why don't you check for that surname in Monaghan on census? If he/she is a resident of there why not look for kin?

is there a census for Monaghan ? I thought they were all distroyed
surname is Green and the whole family came over to the UK sometime in the 1850-60s last child I have was born 1845 in Ireland they would have been baptised in Ireland in the RC church No more children born after that or if there were any they might have died as they aren't on any census.
The 1911 has been the only census that 2 of the children have given a place in Ireland all the others just say Ireland
