Hi Christine,

Thank you, yes Thomas and Janet Branley were my Grandparent's. I have their Marriage certificate now. My Mother was Lily Branley their only daughter, Mum was born 1922 and died 1996 the last of my Branley line till now.

Maybe I missed it--but who did Thomas name on the marriage cert that you have for his father?

Thomas Branley marriage to Ann Moss. Fathers name was John Branley on thier certificate.

Thomas Branley marriage to Janet Chapmen. Father was Thomas Branley on thier certifcate.

So was Thomas Hedley originally.
Try GRO online for birth certificate

Pretty sure this is John in 1861 with parents Robert and Jane:

Location: High Pans, Bedlington

Robert Hedley   53 - father - sailor b. North Blyth
Jane Hedley   51 - mother
John Hedley   24 - your John - ship carpenter
Robert Hedley   21 - his brother - sailor
Isabella Hedley 14 - his sister

Whole family including mother born North Blyth

John Hedley and Ann Moss call their daughter Jane Isabella..
