IFHF Wicklow Marriages?
« on: Monday 10 January 11 04:36 GMT (UK) »
Every time I try and search for a marriage in Wicklow on the IFHF site there are no results. When I run a search for everywhere and look at the list of counties below all except wicklow have a box that can be checked next to them.

Does this mean That there are no marriage records or they haven't been transcribed yet? or is there something else I'm doing wrong.
Gilbert ~ London, Essex.
Nutt ~ Sussex England, Ayrshire Scotland, Ireland.
Scully, Richards, Stepney, Goble ~ Sussex.
James ~ London, Essex, Sussex, Pembrokeshire.
Lochhead ~ Ayrshire/ Nielston Renfrewshire Scotland.

There are no marriage records available on the IFHF/RootsIreland website for Co. Wicklow at the moment. See their sources page for details available for each county/parish..

The records on the IFHF/RootsIreland website are parish records, but a civil marriage gives the most information - since the marriage is after the start of full records it should be included.

see : Details included on a Civil Marriage Cert

I found the marriage details you mentioned on http://www.cmcrp.net/Wicklow/ArklowM8.htm  They look to be a partial civil record, except there's no mention of a few details that should be present on a cert - i.e.

the residences for the bride and groom,
occupation for the groom (and sometimes the bride)
  names of witnesses

An RC parish record can occasionally give some details that are not included on civil records - e.g. addresses for witnesses, or names of mother's for the bride and groom, but this is quite rare.

here are the likely references from the BMD index, if you want to order a cert :

  Name: Alice Green
  Registration district: Rathdrum
  Event type: Marriage
  Year: 1866
  Volume : 12 /Page : 871

  Name: Andrew Kavenagh
  [same references as Alice]

The cmcrp records appear to be parish records, since they appear to  have Andrew's name in Latin.

The town of Arklow is in the civil registration district of Rathdrum.

thank you for that - I am considering it - already have the birth certificate for their first child who was born in Wexford in 1867.  I want to be certain
about andrew's birth - still unsure if he was actually born in Wicklow
Thank you very much
