KILLALEA - Arrival in Australia

I was wondering if someone was able to please check the passenger lists for the arrival in New South Wales some time between 1908 and 1914 for Patrick and Catherine Killalea.

Hi,

I didn´t find the arrival details for Patrick and Catherine but I did find what is probably his military records.  Looks like he signed up in 1915 and his next of kin was listed as Kate.  All of them are online, link below.  I haven´t read them so I´m not 100% sure they are his but they could be!

It is free to search, includes transcripts AND scanned images of passenger AND crew lists....  This is an on-going project involving volunteers transcribing passenger lists.   It is regularly updated, so perhaps if you cannot find your people at the moment, you could check back to that link regularly.

You haven't mentioned where Patrick and Catherine Killalea were coming from, but you have noted that Catherine died in 1957.  A transcript of her d.c. will show how many years she had been in the colonies/states... to help you contract the current options (1908-1914) ....

There's a great deal of information on NSW d.c...... of course it depends on the informant's own knowledge, but should include her parents names, her spouse, date/place of marriage, children, (names, ages), the name of the rev'd conducting the funeral, the funeral director, the cemetery....  transcripts are cheaper and quicker (email as pdf etc) than the official certicifates on which they are based.

I have requested Catherine's death certificate details from one of the Transcription Agents on the list that you have provided.

I am very sorry that I did not mention that Catherine and Patrick were from Crook, Co. Durham, England.

Perhaps a side track, BUT from an online index of the NSW State Records Office ...
Death duties were paid on 28 Nov 1906 for a P Killalea’s estate, with the locality listed as Ultimo (an inner west suburb of Sydney).  His date of death is given on that index as 13 Sept 1886.  That is a delay of approx 20 years, and is quite unusual.

From the NSW BDM online index there’s a Patrick KILLALEA’s 1886 death registered at Sydney #1548. Parents recorded as James and Ann.   

Hope there's a connection for you,  Nov 1906 is so very close to your 1908-1914 searchings !

Edit to add On the 1878 Electoral Roll, there's a likely spelling mistake, as it has Patrick KILLELAI, as a freeholder at 41 Howard St West Sydney  (ie Ultimo).

Further edit  I think the AHC Guild would stand for Australian Holy Catholic Guild, but you should check that assumption out further...
