John Halford B. Great Rollright 1802
« on: Sunday 12 June 11 02:53 BST (UK) »
Any help with more info about my husband's GG grandfather John Halford would be appreciated.  Here's what we know so far, some of it from the Family Search records (AFN: 177H-645)

Born about 1802 Great Rollright, Oxfordshire
Married Sarah Farbrother (b. Great Rollright about 1805)  1831

Listed as "servant" on birth certificate of son John Halford (b. Moreton in Marsh 1838, died Queensland, Australia 1919)

Listed as "servant" on 1841 census, age 40, working in rectory at Batsford Park, Shipston on Stour  (wife Sarah and children are living on their own nearby in both 1841 and 1851)

Hoping to trace his family in Great Rollright further back, and also wondering about his work as a servant, how he found his way to working at Batsford Park, and when/where he died.

Many thanks,

Margery

Thanks so much, Sue, that Batsford is a good clue, I knew that he worked there later (as of the 1841 census) but didn't know he was living there when they got married in 1831.
