Hi Val

What sort of information are you after in respect of Armsheugh? I can see posts on other forums regarding an Archibald Fleming from Armsheugh, who it is stated left there c. 1848. There is a Fleming family showing, headed up by an Archibald Fleming who was farmer at Armheugh, on the 1841 census.

There is also general info on links here www.rootschat.com/links/0dpo/ (I've shortened the link from the site Scotlands Places).

Monica  :)

Hello Monica,
Thanks for the reply :) I do have several posts on differant forums so I guess they maybe mine. I am really trying to find out about the area today. I have a photo of a cottage which is supposedly the old family home and when I next visit I would like to locate it. My Archibald did leave c 1870 to work in Liverpool. The 1841 census was his parents and grandparents I beleive.

There is a photo of a property showing on Street View (google maps) which comes up as Armsheugh
Kilmarnock, Ayrshire KA3 6HU (can't include here due to copyright issues but this is a shrunk link for it, www.rootschat.com/links/0dpq/ )

Hopefully someone with local knowledge of the area can comment  :)

Monica

Added: Just click on the red marker dot on the map as this will bring up the street view photo from the map from which you can use the controls on the screen to move around.

I have a Birth record for a distant relative Mary Frew who was born in 1754 at Armsheugh, Kilwinning. Her parents were William Frew and Elizabeth Irvine. I had not heard of this place even although its just up the road, but I am familiar with the Sourlie area some of the land there was mined many years ago.
Interesting will have to check it out in more detail.

Thank you for the information
