Sorry to confuse you all, I haven't gone to 2 different sites on the same search before. I'll take note. I can get to Runcorn in (very) due course.

I have become interested in this line helping a possible descendant.
His connection is through Hugh Reginald Hughes b.24 May 1909 Wirral, Cheshire. He is possibly the son of Hugh O. Hughes b.c.1876 and died June Q 1952

Nameerf, Not sure now that yours are mine, now. Mine are from Runcorn throughout c19; came from Liverpool in early c19. Possibly Anglesey before. It's not far from Runcorn along Mersey to Birkenhead Tranmere and other parts of Wirral. Too many Hugh O Hughes b c 1876 are in 1881 census to help and no Hugh Reginald Hughes b 1909 Wirral is in 1911 census on Findmypast on simple search - tho I expect you have found that already. Do you have more to go on than that? (It seems that this is about 4x too long for a PM)

Hi all,

Are you distant relatives?  ;o)

Are any of these the Hugh Hughes we are descended from? He owned a  farm in the Holywell / Nannerch / Berthagam area as far as I'm aware. I'm guessing the family had been in that area for quite some time - the excavations at the moment have uncovered buildings from the 1600s etc.

I would guess there was a large village or settlement there for some time as there would have been a church established there for some time - mention of the local church of St Mary being demolished in 1852 and rebuilt with a new name.

Hi All,

Just seen this listing. I am a distant relative of Hugh Hughes who was a farmer and lived in Nannerch (Scybor Newydd) in the 1840's. His wife was Elizabeth. Does this mean anything to anyone?
