Have been having trouble pinning down my husband's ancestor John Halford, born about 1801. The 1841 census has a John Halford as a servant in the rectory at Batsford Park, and John Halford is listed as a servant on his son's birth certificate, so it seems like they are one and the same, but I can't find any other evidence of his life or death. As mentioned in another message, there was a John Halford who drowned in the Stour River but I haven't been able to find anything more about that.
John's son, also named John Halford, was born 21 April 1838 in Morton in Marsh (died Australia 1919) and his wife was Sarah Farbrother, born 1805 in Oxfordshire.
Any help with John Halford or his family would be welcome, including sources for information about his time as a servant at Batsford Park.
Thanks,
Margery
