Hi Brenda from your info. could the stones listed be who your
ancestors married these will have to be checked.

Birrell Davidson and Isabella Westwater Sharp had the following children:

10. i. ROBERT10 DAVIDSON was born on Sep 20, 1878 in Lochgelly, Fife. He died on May 20, 1967 in Fife, Scotland. He married Agnes McKay, daughter of Archibald Mckay and Margaret Beveridge on Jun 03, 1898 in Ballingry, Fife. She was born in 1877 in Dunfermline, Fife. She died on May 17, 1960 in Lochore, Fife, Scotland.
Ballingry
247 Agnes McKAY died 17.5.1960 age 63
husband Robert DAVIDSON died 20.5.1967 age 68

2. HENDRY DAVIDSON was born in 1881 in Auchterderran, Fifeshire. married to Euphemia i Sparling.

died 19.12.1949 age 66
Henry DAVIDSON died 11.2.1962 age 81

3. BIRRELL DAVIDSON was born in 1883 in Cleish, Kinross-Shire. He died on May 21, 1918 in Glencraig Colliery, Fife Scotland. married to to Euphemia Sparling's sister
He had a family of 8
what were the childrens names?

wife Isabella DAVIDSON died 1977 age 80

11. MARY DAVIDSON was born in 1877 in Auchterderran, Fifeshire. Still looking to see if she might have married & had children.

Perhaps the Robert Davidson & Archibald Sharp buried itogether in Lochgelly were cousins in my family tree
(they were Husband & Wife )
397 John DAVIDSON died June 1968 age 60
also his sister Isabella DAVIDSON died 1959 age 59
his wife Archibald Sharp 9.5.1980

Perhaps you are tracing all this through headstones rather than cemetery records so perhaps in that case Birrell & Isabella's stone might no longer exist?
Yes my headstone research is based on my photograaphed index
and the numbers are photo numbers not lair numbers.

husband Robert DAVIDSON died 20.5.1967 age 68 - my great grandparents - I have a photo of the stone.

2. HENDRY DAVIDSON was born in 1881 in Auchterderran, Fifeshire. married to Euphemia i Sparling.
Bowhill
466 Euphemia DAVIDSON wife of Henry DAVIDSON
died 19.12.1949 age 66
Henry DAVIDSON died 11.2.1962 age 81 yes, this looks like a definite

3. BIRRELL DAVIDSON was born in 1883 in Cleish, Kinross-Shire. He died on May 21, 1918 in Glencraig Colliery, Fife Scotland. married to to Euphemia Sparling's sister
He had a family of 8 I know where this one is - although he died in the pit, it was only three months after he left the Black Watch in the 1st World War and his tombstone shows the insignia of the Black Watch - he's in Ballingry I have a photo of the stone. No-one else is indicated on the stone - his wife was Grace Sparling.
what were the childrens names? I know there was a Birrell who I think is buried in Valleyfiled with his wife, Agnes Jarvie. I've recently got in touch with some of his descendants and will try and get more info on the children's names .

8. GEORGE DAVIDSON was born in 1893 in Auchterderran, Fifeshire.
 408 Mary A McEWAN died 5.12.1949 age 54
husband George DAVIDSON died 26.12.1963 age 70 Pretty sure  I've seen McEwan in my family tree - so I think this one's a defiite

10. ISABELLA DAVIDSON was born in 1897 in Ballingry, Fifeshire.
Methilmill
98 George D STEWART died 1950 age 55
wife Isabella DAVIDSON died 1977 age 80 Definitely have Stewart in my tree so this certainly looks right

11. MARY DAVIDSON was born in 1877 in Auchterderran, Fifeshire. One of my relations doing research thinks she might have died young - before the 1901 census as she's not on it although she might have left the house.

Perhaps the Robert Davidson & Archibald Sharp buried itogether in Lochgelly were cousins in my family tree
(they were Husband & Wife ) A woman called Archibald  :o - . Our two Sharps were Mary and Helen & much further back.

397 John DAVIDSON died June 1968 age 60
also his sister Isabella DAVIDSON died 1959 age 59
his wife Archibald Sharp 9.5.1980

Thanks for your help so far. Will get back to you if I find out any more and if you ever run into Birrell & Isabella, I'd be thrilled..

Hello Norie
On looking at my family tree , and at all the branches, it seems a bit difficult to pin anybody down as a lot of the first names are alike (even when there are 8 ore more in a family) and from much the same period (I only have circa for a lot of them), and I don't have spouse's names. There are one or two that might be interesting though - anybody called Birrell is almost certainly to be from my family. There are a few who don't even have the surname Davidson (ie Birrrell Sparling in Ballingry) but are still linked by the female line.
The only Alexander I can find has a birthdate of 8 8 1685.
However, I've found a bit more from Birrel and Isabella's family:
their son Joseph (born 31 7 1887 died 7 9 1963 in Kirkcaldy) was married to Helen Munro (died 1959). They had a daughter, Isabella Mentiplay Westwater Davidson who was born 18 1 1909 did 3 11 1986 in Kirkcaldy and was married to Edward Hennessy Wilson who was  born 21 7 1906 and died 7 7 1972 also in Kirkcaldy. Where do they get these names  ::)
isabella & Birrell's son Hen(d)ry also had a son called Birrell born 24 5 1902.

 Mary Baillie Davidson born 26 10 1859 died 21 1 1929 married James Murray born 9 2 1856 died 5 9 1878.

There's a Thomas circa 1893 who was the son of James Davidson & Helen Sharp, a William circa 1878 and a John circa 1878. The James are too numerous to mention ::)

And there a lot of Goerge's too.

I know there are other Davidsons in Ballingry (my Grandad's siblings) which you didn't give me. Perhaps it's because they're less further back but if it's because you don't have them, I could send you the photos for your database. Let me know.
Thanks for your help.
Cordialement
Brenda

Hello Norrie
Thanks so much for all the info -it's really quite fascinating.
The Helen you found seems to correspond to Helen Sharp (married to James Davidson who died in 1880). She was my ancestor's sister. & her husband and my Davidson ancestor were brothers The childrens' names and order of birth all tie in. Bit concerned about the dates though - according to the census her last child was born when she was 53 - and more worryingly , on my family tree, there's a John and a Thomas (after her husband' s death?) after William . Do you think they might be grandchildren that she brought up?  The two Sharp "boarders" must be some sort of family members , the name is too much of a coincidence.
These two were the first Birrell's in the Davidson family (called after the two sisters' father Burrel) but there were quite a few others later. THelen's son Birrell went to Govan and worked as a shipwright where he died.
How do you want me to send the photos - I see it's possible to attach them here and I have them on cd so maybe that would be ok or via PM if you prefer?
Fascinating to have an address & have a few more details  for this side of the family - I haven't been able to trace them any further forward - perhaps they left the area or perhaps they're some of those you listed in your first reply ....
Thanks again
Warmly & Sincerely

Hello Norrie
I've been doing a bit more research from which  it seems that Helen was only 36 at the time of the census (apparently it's really badly written) so it's quite feasible that she had a child of 3. When her husband died, she remarried so it's also possible that she had more children.

Norrie,
Would you possibly have any Tranns or Wests on your list?

James Trann (7 Jul 1820 - 26 Mar 1896) married to Christian West (11 Nov 1823 - 14 Nov 1864).

Two of their daughters seem to have died in Dunfermline, Ann d 13 Mar 1852 as an infant and Catherine d 1932 (married to James Beveridge).   I also have two James's, one of which died as a baby in 1863.

James's father was James McFarlane Trann (1784 - ?) married to Elizabeth Hutton.  There was another child, Elizabeth but I only know she was born in 1822.

There are even more Tranns that might also be about (Phillip, John, Catherine, Richard, Janet and Helen) but they are siblings not direct ancestors and may have gone back to Edinburgh at some time.

Christian West's father was David West d 1 Aug 1862 in the poorhouse and her mother was Anne Adie.  She had 4 brothers John, James, Alexander and David.

Thank you so much in advance
Lyndsay

Nothing in Index for James Beveridge & Catherine Trann
